I am currently a Special Education Mathematics teacher. I teach self-contained pre-algebra for 9th grade and self-contained algebra for 10th grade. At the end of 10th grade my students take the Algebra 1 Regents. All of classes are the 15:1:1 model. I have worked as a 4th and 5th grade teacher in a Long Island District. In these settings I taught all subject areas and prepared students for all state tests. I also worked in an inner city school as a 6th grade Math and Science teacher and an Algebra 2/Trigonometry Teacher. Over the summer I taught Integrated Algebra. I am currently teaching AIS math to 6th, 7th and 8th graders in a middle school in a very diverse community.
For my special needs students I teach math by step processes. I teach by discovery and use cooperative learning and stations. I am a firm believer that any student can learn with the right attitude and positivity behind them.
At my first teaching job I received the "Rookie of the Year Award." Just a piece of paper but it meant a lot!
I received my Bachelors Degree from the State University of New York at New Paltz in Elementary Education and Mathematics. My Masters Degree is in Special Education from Hofstra University.
I have certifications in Elementary Education (1-6), Mathematics (7-12), and Special Education (1-6) and (7-12).
