Hello! I’ve been teaching General Music and Choirs in grades 6 - 12 for twenty years, as well as some college-level courses.
Anytime I can get my students playing instruments or creating music, I will. Whether it’s using classroom instruments or online tools, I believe students are most engaged when making music. I also love to teach musical concepts by relating them to the current experiences of my students. For example, while we are learning about word painting in renaissance music, we also explore how their favorite artists perform pieces with word painting. My end goal for students is to have the tools to be active participants and responsible consumers of music once they leave my classroom.
