Research Based Teaching Tools

I have been a teacher since 2002. I began teaching kindergarten, first grade, third grade and then went into teaching special education. I taught as a reading specialist and worked as an Autism Consultant. I am now heading back to general education to teach 4th grade. I love learning something new, and love all of the students I have taught.

Differentiated Instruction, Teaching based on all Multiple Intelligences, higher levels of thinking, literature based instruction, phonics, teaching that meets the needs of students with Autism through visual schedules, hands on curriculum, and project based Learning.

Research Based Teaching Tools provides products that enable teachers to use a variety of avenues to teach Reading, Writing and Math. Our most popular Literacy tool teaches letter names and sounds using ASL, and a visual. Students learn their letter names and sounds within a few weeks of using these cards. Other products that correlate with our Letter Names and Sound Cards are our Clip Cards, Stamp the Letter, a Free File Folder Game, and Alphabet Dough Mats to create the letters. For students who are learning their blends and diagraphs our Reading Strategy Cards uses the same concept without the ASL. Students learn the sounds and have a visual. Our Reading Comprehension Cards are something that can be taken anywhere. We have our Comp. Quest Cards 1 Based on Bloom's Taxonomy. Our other Comprehension cards, Comp. Quest Cards 2, are based on Bloom's Revised Taxonomy. They help students become deeply engaged in the literature they are reading. In addition to these cards we offer book report forms that are differentiated based on Bloom's Taxonomy. As a third grade teacher my students struggled learning their multiplication facts. I came up with my Multiplication Strategy Cards based on their need. They have evolved over the years to provide additional strategies. As a teacher, my students can't seem to get enough of Multiplication Color by Codes! I began creating them with my Winter Math Multiplication product. I took line art, and created by scratch each sheet. At that time there was no clip art to use to create this product. My students were motivated by them, and it was worth every single minute I spent creating this product to see them enjoy practicing their facts. When Research Based Teaching Tools began, the first products were File Folder Games with Sight Words. We have evolved to a variety of so many other forms of activities that can be used as work tasks. I used my File Folder Games with my students when teaching students with Autism, and as a Resource Teacher. Over the years, I have been blessed to be able to teach so many students of varying capabilities. As I teach, I think about techniques based on Research of learning ( such as Multiple Intelligence, Bloom's Taxonomy, etc ), to create new tools to help my students and share with you.
