I have loved every grade that I have taught. I started off teaching music and sang my way through my first three years in the classroom. After that I moved on to teach a fantastic and fabulous group of first graders. I loved them so much that I moved up to 2nd grade. Second was just as amazing and fantastic. I stayed there until there was an opening for 2-way Bilingual first grade. Nothing was funnier to these babies than hearing their Southern Texas teacher speak Spanish with a Southern swagger. I loved it! From there I helped to start a school in Cedar Hill where I taught Kindergarten. It was energetic, and crazy fun, but I missed teaching higher level lessons. My husband convinced me to give middle school a try and there I've stayed. I moved from coaching scholars to coaching teachers. It has been so much fun.
Kids were created to move and talk. I create lessons that allow them the ability to do both. It is the scholars who should be tired by the end of the day, not the teachers. Cooperative learning is a game changer.
I have been rewarded several certificates, grants, and scholarships, but shouldn't teaching be a big enough award?
