I have been teaching bilingual education for 26 years. I am a now a dual language second grade teacher. I have also taught kindergarten and first grade in transitional, 90-10, full immersion and two way dual language programs. As a native Spanish speaker, I clearly see the benefits of being bilingual. Teaching is and has been my passion since I was a child. It is an honor to be able to apply my skills to help my students become bilingual and biliterate.
I believe in an organized classroom environment in which students learn how to be respectful, independent and responsible leaders. I create lessons and activities which are interesting, creative, fun, and at the same time rigorous and challenging. I have high expectations for all my students. In my class everybody shines!
I am a grant writer. Through my teaching career, I have secured more than 20 grants for my school, grade level and homeroom. I have also been a presenter several times at La Cosecha Dual Language Conference and NMABE (New Mexico Association for Bilingual Education.)
I received my bachelor's degree in Education from Universidad Anahuac, in Mexico. I have a masters degree in Human development, with emphasis in Early Childhood and bicultural education from Pacific Oaks College and Children’s School in Pasadena, CA. I enrolled on the education leadership program to become a principal, bu I soon realized my heart was in the classroom.
I am a proud wife and mom. Our two children, now in college, are bilingual and biliterate. We love traveling as a family. The world is the best classroom!
