TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have worked since 2005 in an educational setting (K-5), providing speech therapy to the general education population for articulation, language, fluency (stuttering), voice and to the special education population with mild to severe disabilities including autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, intellectually challenged, speech/language impaired, deaf/hard of hearing, and other disabilities.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I customize my teaching style to the child's learning style, providing mild to maximum verbal/visual support as needed. It's so important to know how to deliver lessons in more than one way. It's our job to figure out how the child learns and present material in a way that he/she can be successful.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Seeing children take steps forward in their communication is honestly the biggest award for me.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I spent my previous career as a software engineer and systems analyst for a large corporation, before switching careers to speech therapy in the educational setting. Again, I am using my computer skills, now toward helping children.
