Spring Lohr

I have been in education since 1997 in one form or another. I spent my first few years subbing and doing behavior monitoring. I then taught 1st grade at a private school for a few years. When I started my family, I subbed again on occasion. I then spent 1 year in 5th grade, 3 years in 6th grade, and then moved to 1st grade in the public school system. I have been teaching 1st grade since that move and absolutely love it!

When I teach, I think of how I would want my own children's teachers to interact with them. I provide a great deal of structure to allow the students to have a sense of security in my classroom. I also provide many of their learning opportunities to take place in centers. I interact with the children in a "Down to Earth" manner, yet have consistent expectations of them. As opposed to whole group lecturing, I prefer to teach in small flexible groups.

I was chosen to be part of our local university's video series showing incoming students how to prepare for classroom visitations.

I have my bachelors and masters degrees in elementary education.

I have been happily married for 13 years and have 3 beautiful children. Watching my children go through our school system allows me to be a better teacher.
