I am an energetic teaching professional with ten years of full-time experience in the public school system and an additional five years of teaching and tutoring experience in both rural and urban school settings. I am currently K-6 certified and have completed my sixth-year degree in Education Leadership. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I have been coaching athletics, organizing activities to broaden my students’ educational experience, and recently developed an after-school literacy and numeracy improvement program. I am particularly effective at curriculum development and evaluation, classroom management, leading effective teams, and developing extracurricular and cultural awareness programs.
It is my responsibility, as a teacher, to provide numerous authentic learning opportunities to help students explore and become curious of new interests to learn. When students feel safe and are encouraged to learn, their self-esteem and confidence to try difficult tasks are amplified. When given these opportunities, they feel a sense of belonging, have positive social interactions, and have the opportunity to learn new skills. It is important to establish a classroom culture that develops positive relationships among all members of the classroom. A child will work extremely hard when they have a teacher who genuinely cares about them and who provides love and respect for one other. It is also important for a teacher to possess creativity, patience, and a fun-loving attitude to make long-lasting connections with every child. Students surprise me every day by excelling far past my expectations for them, thus giving me rewards and incentives to challenge and continue a lifelong learning adventure for all of my students.
