TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Suzanne has taught for 30 years, both in the states and in Central America. She is National Board Certified with a Masters in Education, plus 30 hours. She has taught 4th and 5th grade regular education and gifted education, 7th and 8th grade math, and even 10th grade literature.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Suzanne believes that education should be fun and engaging, so her classroom has always been full of unique learning ideas and experiences for her students. "Controlled chaos" might be a good term to apply here! Students may be filming an op ed for a video, creating period newspapers for a novel being read, or acting out the story of a biographical character's life!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Suzanne was named Louisiana Middle School Teacher of the Year in 2003 and was awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching in 2006. She has received numerous awards and been awarded close to $50,000 in grants for her classroom.
