My teaching career began 14 years ago when I began teaching Pre-school my first year in a private school. It’s hard to believe those students have now graduated! That makes me feel a little old From there, I taught 1st grade and then spent 5 more years in preschool. My next experience came in the south, where I taught 5th-8th grade and taught in a STEM school in Nashville, TN teaching 3rd grade and ESL. My family then returned to New England where I have taught K-4 Literacy Intervention and Third grade. In 2014 my Husband and I had our son, Daniel, who was born with Down Syndrome. This was a total shock and was not diagnosed during my pregnancy. I am unable to go back to the classroom, because I am home with Daniel and have many doctor appointments for him. This is a blessing in disguise in so many ways, because now I am able to create products to help other teachers and students, and can begin the next road of my journey of education as an entrepreneur.
My favorite style is hands-on learning, I feel that students do best when they play a role in their own learning. Visuals and hands-on activities leave lasting impacts and form great memories.
Even though honors and awards are great, my favorite award is watching a student grasp a concept we are learning. I will always love to see “the light bulb” turn on and the smile on a student’s face when it finally makes sense!
I have a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Teaching Mathematics K-8.
My desire is to make products that can be used in a classroom with the many different levels within a class. I want my products to be able to make the differentiation process for the teacher a little easier. My desire is for students on different levels to enjoy the same product, but on their learning level.
