TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Currently, I am the media specialist at an elementary school. I have worked as a Writing Resource Specialist at an elementary school in the Hillsborough County Public School system for over twelve years. Additionally, I have taught second, fourth, and fifth grades and worked as an Intermediate Reading Resource Specialist. This is my twenty-second year of teaching.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love the subtleties of how students receive knowledge. When I create lessons my thinking always goes to trying to figure out how to challenge the over achievers and how to motivate the reluctant learners. As a person who struggled in school, I feel that I am uniquely attuned to the needs of the kids who are not necessarily easy to engage. I love gathering relevant and meaningful resources and writing power point lessons designed to make kids have that light bulb moment.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Often times kids feel like no one listens to them but through the world of books, engaging texts, and the subject of writing students now have a voice and a powerful way to be heard.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Pine Manor College: Associate of Arts University of Miami: Bachelor of Arts Majors: English Literature and Elementary Education

I have been married to my best friend for over twenty years and I am the mother of a 16 year old daughter and a 14 year old son. My hobbies include collecting sea glass, making jewelry, and being with my family and close friends.
