TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching at a private separate day-treatment facility for seven years. On the spectrum of placements, ours is the most restrictive, yet therapeutic. Most of my students have been through significant traumatic experiences and, as a result, have a difficult time regulating their emotions and behavior. While I put a great deal of emphasis on their academic performance, we spend a lot of time on behavior management, social skills, and giving them the care and nurturing they so desperately need.

MY TEACHING STYLE

The student to staff ratio in my classroom is 10:2. I have a TA in my classroom who provides me with an immense amount of support, especially when it comes to reaching my lower-level learners who need more one-on-one attention. Ability levels in my classroom range from pre-reading to college-level and basic math to algebra and geometry. It goes without saying that I have a lot of differentiating to do in my class! This can make my job very difficult, but it challenges me to look at what I'm teaching through a wide variety of lenses. I love my job, I love my school, and I have an endless amount of love in my heart for my students. I hope that my background, experience, and love of teaching is reflected in the products I create for you!

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am the proud mother of an almost four year old girl. No one tugs at my heartstrings the way she does! As much as it breaks my heart to watch her grow up so fast, I am so incredibly proud of the little lady she's growing up to be! My husband is an automotive technician and is incredibly loving, supportive, and provides me with plenty of comic-relief! :) In my spare time (when I can find it!), I like to read, watch crime documentaries and horror movies, clean and organize things, and spend time with my wonderful family and friends.
