I have experience teaching students ranging from multi needs, intellectual disabilities, ED, BD, Autism... I have taught in private and public schools as a substitute teacher, student teacher, and full time teacher. I have been a primary teacher at a therapeutic alternative school, in a self-contained classroom working with students who need additional attention and support due to a combination of ED, BD, Autism, and psychological disorders. I have also co-taught at the High School Level. I am currently a Special Ed Teacher in a Transition program focusing on life skills, community based skills, vocational skills, and functional academics.

Philosophy Motivate, educate, and respect each student you encounter. Everyone has the right to an education. As an Educator it is my responsibility to create a safe, motivating environment that fosters learning, mutual respect, and hope. Philosophy & Plan for Classroom Management During my placements and student teaching I experienced various classroom management and behavior management techniques. I believe in learning from those around me and therefore have taken what I have learned and observed and implemented them within my classroom. My philosophy of teaching is to motivate, educate, and respect each student I encounter. As an Educator it is my responsibility to create a safe, motivating environment that fosters learning, mutual respect, and hope. Classroom Environment & Expectations: I am committed to creating a classroom environment that is safe, engaging, and fosters personal and academic growth. It is imperative to have excellent communication with other staff in the classroom to ensure consistency in communication, strategy, behavioral and classroom management. Part of classroom management is not just leading students and staff, but managing the rules, expectations, boundaries, and keeping students engaged. I will establishing clear expectations and boundaries with students and ensure all staff and teachers maintain those expectations and boundaries to create consistency for students. It is just as important for students to know what we expected of them as it is what they can expect from their teacher and staff. Behavior: When students follow the rules, meet expectations, and utilize the social emotional tools they are being taught, I believe it is important to reward students to encourage future occurrences. Clear consequences for not following classroom and school rules will also be established. Daily Routine: I believe in setting up routines in the classroom with changes coming from the lessons and activities brought into the classroom. Students will be given the tools needed to learn to adapt to minor changes to the routines. In closing, it is important to create a team/community environment within the classroom where students feel safe and comfortable to learn, ask questions, ask for help, and of course have fun with learning.
