TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching social studies for 4-5 years, and have experienced MANY curriculum changes, which has certainly kept me on my toes! I have taught in grades 6-12, but I think my favorite grade has been 7th so far. I love history, no matter what part it is!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I'd say most of my teaching comes in the form of partner work, group projects, and simulations. I love getting students completely immersed into each topic so they can get an understanding of what it would be like to live in that time period. I try to think outside the box!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

It may not be an official title, but I did win the "Pie-a-teacher" contest in which students had to put money in the jar of which teacher they wanted to be pied in the face. It was a tough competition, but ultimately I did end up getting pied in front of the whole school!

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

History is a wonderful subject because there is so much that can be done with it: Mock trials, simulations, films, presentations, scripts, essays, debates, etc.
