I am a tenured, National Board Certified high school math teacher and have been on this amazing journey of teaching mathematics since the 2007. I have taught Algebra 1, advanced and general Geometry, advanced and general Algebra 2, and Advanced Pre-Calculus. I specialize in creating well-organized, student friendly guided notes, explorations, and activities that are classroom tested.
I run a well-organized, structured classroom that encourages discovery through exploration and investigation. I use everything from colors, to hand motions, to sound effects to help students remember key mathematical theorems. In my classroom there is a strong emphasis on formative assessment, student self-reflection and progress monitoring, individual feedback, strengthening and sustaining of prerequisite skills, and inspiring students to see the fun in mathematics!
I received a Recognition of Excellence on the Praxis II Mathematics Content Knowledge certification test and graduated from college cum laude. As of 2018 I am also a National Board Certified Teacher.
I hold a bachelors degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from Asbury College and a master's degree in Teacher As Leader from Asbury University.
I LOVE teaching math. I am especially passionate about Geometry and the proof of mathematical theorems. I have two daughters and am wife to an amazing man. I am very involved in my local church and serve the Lord daily on the mission field that is the high school math classroom. I love coffee, donuts, planner supplies, essential oils, and cats.
