With patience, respect, and a whole lot love, there isn't too much that isn't possible in my classroom. If I have learned anything in my short time teaching, it is the power of empathy, and teaching students to respect themselves and their peers. Building confidence builds knowledge, and it all starts with the environment you create.

Growing up I watched my mother change the lives of student after student after student. I always took it for granted, thinking "Well, that's what teacher's do. That's their job!" I never truly recognized what an incredible educator she was, nor what an incredible difference she made for each and every child that walked through her doors. After graduating from business school and working for a bio-medical corporation for 2 years, I was offered an opportunity to teach at a local elementary school. It seemed a crazy leap of faith at the time, but I will never be more grateful for any other instance in my life; the cheesy saying finally made sense: "Chose a job you love and you will never work a day in your life." After spending my last 3 years teaching, I am back in school to pursue a degree in Elementary Education. I know this is just the beginning, and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store!
