I am a secondary ESL facilitator in the C&I department for ESL. I have over 17 years in education. I have taught K-8 PE, 7 science; 8 Science, 6th-grade math/science, and ESL English. I loved every level I have worked with. I am very passionate about ESL and Science! My years of teaching science my students have outscored others in the district and the grade level. Whatever my method, it seems to be working! :) I just earned my doctorate degree in curriculum and instruction.
I use a lot of technology to enhance my students' learning. I challenge students to use creativity and hands-on learning to develop their own educational experiences. I am direct and very authoritarian, but give students the freedom of choice and active learning. I use songs to feed information about topics to students, they sing them while they are going to lunch, taking tests, or whenever they feel like it because it sticks! I am a giant fan of Youtube for these fabulous songs that can be found online. Thank you to those creative singers that are gifted with songs and put science into action.
I have been awarded technology grants to allow my students to have 15 mini-laptops for my classroom use. I have won a document camera, smartboard, and use of a slate. I have served on curriculum-building teams, represented campus for STEM, and have been looked to for mentoring within my campus. I have been selected for leadership training out of large amounts of applications. I have won 1st place in the last 7 years in 8th-grade science for my students' growth and achievements on benchmarks and state testing!
I have my doctorate degree in curriculum and instruction. I have my masters in leadership and am a certified principal.I am in process of my doctorate program in C&I. I have a BS in Kinesiology and have taught PE, Coached, taught middle school science, and ESL English 6-8th grade. I have gone to many conferences over the years. I have spent an entire week at NASA for a gifted program for Math and Science teachers!
I love teaching and working with the students today. I am inspired by many of the older generations of teachers and more so by the use of technology within the classroom. Smartboards, cell phones, etc. Students are my life, I never look forward to breaks within the year, for not being with my students is sad, they energize me daily. My zeal for my students is limitless! As an instructional coach, I thrive being able to help teachers become better at their craft. Assisting them with the use of best practices and learning to use materials easier and quicker.
