This is a handout that includes a description of the project, ideas, a simple rubric, and a place for students to write their proposals and for you, the teacher, to approve of before they begin.

This activity helps students determine their political party affiliation without knowing it! There are 11 issues with 2 stances each (1 Republican and 1 Democratic). There is no indication as to which stance aligns with which political party. Students receive a +1 for a Republican stance and a -1 for a Democratic stance. The closer they are to +11, the more conservative they are. The closer they are to 0, the more moderate they are, and so on.
