I use this project as part of the addition and subtraction unit in my 3rd grade classroom. It gives students a real world scenario in which they would use their knowledge of addition and subtraction to manage money. The kids love it because it offers a lot of choice and is very fun! It could also be used for advanced 2nd graders or as a review at the beginning of the year for 4th graders.

Life Size Number Line to 20 - number line students can act out story problems

Perfect for teaching number line awareness. Students will put the numbers in order and it becomes a number line. They can act out story problems. I put containers on each number with counters in each container to reflect the corresponding number. I will give a student a bag with the first number in it. If they are adding, the they collect one from each container until they stop. If they are subtracting, they take one from their bag and put it in the container.

We all know how important it is for students to practice building numbers with base ten blocks to gain a deep understanding of place value and regrouping. In my search for the perfect digital activities/games that use 10 base blocks, I only found tools that came without problems to be solved or feedback. I needed something that the students can independently use that provides instant feedback. So I asked my little co
