This fun activity allows your students to independently practice with shapes, multiplication, creativity and writing skills. Students create their own shape monsters using the shape tool in Google Slide. Their challenge is to create a monster using at least 5 shapes and having at least 50 vertices, but no more than 75. Students then write a little bio about their monster. Finally they total the number of vertices in their shapes using multiplication and add them all together for a final number.

At the end of the year we earned a day outside. Students were given guidelines and materials such as multiplication/division flash cards, hula hoops, and rulers. My suggestion is to use only give some of these as options during one session outside. I found that there were too many choices and some groups got stuck.
