Students write out six four-beat rhythms (one to correspond with each die face) and then roll the die to determine the order of the rhythms for their composition. You will need access to dice or use of a computer generated die application. You may choose to have students perform their composition by clapping, playing on rhythm instruments, playing alone, playing in an ensemble... there are many possibilities!
