These individual chapter close reads focus on section 2 of the novel, "The Twenty Six Malignant Gates" which contains chapters 5-8. (It also includes short close read on the short introduction.) The close reads focus on character development, quote analysis, theme, as well as comprehension. The Google Doc allows for students to type their answers directly on the page! These close reads go well with The Joy Luck Club character chart, which is also listed on my main store.
