They write a letter and create five single-page study guides and reference sheets for a future Algebra student on major topics. This graphic organizer is great to assist students in answering word problems. It uses the acronym "FUSS" to assist students with the process of solving word problems. This worked great during our systems of equations unit but can be easily adapted to accommodate other units as well.

Compound Probability with Skittles
Students use a small cup of skittles (or a fun size bag) to pull two skittles and then find the probability (likelihood) of pulling that "exact combination" or "either occurring combination". Then, through reflection questions, students realize that "exact combinations" are far less likely to occur than "either occurring" combinations.
