I use this with my students with learning disabilities to help them write organized paragraphs. Often they are simply asked to write and don't know how to start or what to include. It keeps them on track and prevents them from rambling or adding unnecessary details.

Often students do not completely understand what a rubric is assessing or how to use it when creating their original piece of writing. This rubric is student friendly and can be adapted to all different types of writing styles. It is currently formatted for Research because that is what we are currently working on in class. This is a large poster I made for a writing competition we had last year. It is 21" X 44". Our theme of course was star wars, actually STAAR wars, as it was for the STAAR writing test. The "Four" is the highest number a student can make on a single paper. Near time for the test we had students write a paper a week. When we graded them they graphed their score (which we actually called things like Jedi Apprentice, Jedi Master, Jedi Grand Master) in the hallway under this sign for the whole grade
