High school theatre directors have a LOT to do. Often, you don't have time to train each technician on your specific protocols, procedures, and expectations. You don't have to do it all yourself. Don't be afraid to delegate. No, it won't be as perfect as if you did it yourself, but remember, this is EDUCATIONAL theatre. Choose a sound technician that you trust, give them the cheatsheet, and let them go and start learning while you're putting out all the other fires. Schedule a time to follow up

I created this poster in Microsoft Publisher. The final copy has been saved as a PDF on 9 separate pages. Print out the PDF and put your poster together.
Poster - 24 inches by 30 inches (9 pages). You will cut the pages down and tape them together to make a nice poster. You can also have your poster laminated to make it last longer. That's what I do in my classroom. Then you can reuse the posters year after year.

Use this handout to review the different kinds of listening--appreciative, critical, deliberative, and empathic. Have students watch Bud Abbott and Lou Costello in "Who's on First." This video clip is now in the public domain and can easily be found through a simple internet search. You can also try this website http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTcRRaXV-fg. As they are watching the video clip, the students should attempt to fill in each of the baseball positions mentioned in the video clip.
