This template provides a formula that students can use to master the art of writing objective summaries across the curriculum. It can be adapted to meet the needs of lower grades simply by changing the academic vocabulary verbs to one appropriate for the grade level. RI8.2 Nonfiction Reflection - Generic Tool for Writing Summaries
This generic worksheet can be used in all subject areas and helps students to analyze and summarize any nonfiction text that you are reading. The activity begins with a summary statement, and students are then asked to choose and comment upon quotes of their choice. There is a vocabulary section and a chart for students to organize key points by order of importance.
