Canada The Story Of Us is a tremendous video series that chronicles Canadian History. Episode 1 "Worlds Collide" covers the early part of Canadian history when European Explorers came to settle in the New World. This episode directly aligns with the expectations of Ontario's grade 5 social studies curriculum. This activity includes two different sets of worksheets that students can fill in as they watch the film.

The Grizzlies is a 2018 Canadian film about a group of Inuit students in Kugluktuk, Nunavut and a new teacher who helps them to create a lacrosse team and, in doing so, helps his students to find hope and purpose in a very small town with a very high suicide rate. I teach Grades 8-12 in a very small community in Nunavut (smaller than Kugluktuk!) and all of my students love this movie.
