Used Brain Based Learning intermixed with visual arts in many lessons. Students were actively engaged, sat on exercise balls, and did brain break activities as transition between topics. Flexible seating and project or outcome based units were popular among my students. Many thrived and learned to memorize and recite poetry and speeches using memory techniques of chunking and visualization. Traditional aspects of the past entered with a respect for cursive handwriting, and puzzle and brain games such as chess and solving the Rubik cube.
Thrilled to be chosen by a former student who was in high school to be her 'Most Influential Teacher!' A very touching, personal high for me. Also honored to have had multiple essay/poster contest WINNERS at our state level in the National Missing Child Poster Day Contest. Pleased to have a student selected in top award as the Rubber Band Contest for our state as well. Several of my students also earned the privilege of representing our school in the National Geography Bee for the state! Several of my Quiz Bowl JR. Hi teams also won our county championship.
