TEACHING EXPERIENCE

18 years Elementary Experience as a Classroom Teacher, Reading Specialist and Reading Coach. Currently a 1:1 5th Grade ELA Teacher! August 2004 - December 2009 in Jacksonville, FL: Kindergarten, 2nd Grade, 4th/5th ELA/Reading Split, Co-Teach and Inclusion. January 2010 - June 2013 in Savannah, GA: 3rd Grade and Reading Title I. July 2013 - June 2016 in Jacksonville, NC: Title I Reading Specialist and the Full Time Literacy Coach. August 2016 - Currently in Tampa, FL: 5th Grade ELA Teacher.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in hands on experiences for each subject area. I am a Workshop Model kind of gal! This allows students to practice a variety of skills and have multiple opportunities to work in small groups or one on one with the teacher. Balanced Literacy is a passion of mine! I love to expose students to a variety of genres, skills and strategies through Shared Reading/Writing, Interactive Reading/Writing and more! My true love is allowing students to grow in a 21st Century World with a love of reading!

Graduated with honors and awards in 2002 from Central Florida Community College. Graduated with honors and awards in 2004 from Jacksonville University with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. Graduated with honors and awards in 2007 from University of North Florida with a M.Ed. degreee in Education Leadership. I have also added Reading Specialist and ESOL to my Certificate.
