I am going into my 10th year of teaching K-12 music. I originally was a high school band, choir, and general music teacher. My passion had always been elementary music, and since graduate school, I have been teaching K-5 elementary general music to around 400 students at two Title 1 schools in Northern Indiana.
I am most heavily influenced by the Orff-Schulwerk approach, and have completed all three Orff Levels. I am also influenced by Feierabend's First Steps approach to early-elementary general music, and add elements of Kodaly and Dalcroze in my lessons as well. I aspire for my lessons to reach all learners and to be student-centered, using a variety of genres of music.
Yet to be added
B.M.E. in Music Education from The College of Wooster M.M.E. in Music Education from the University of Louisville Orff Level I, II, and III from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music
I am the wife of a band director, mother of two, fur-mom to two cats and a dog. I have also been involved in after-school and community children's choirs, Orff ensembles, and musical productions. Outside of music, I am also becoming more interested in gardening, home decor, and productivity (at least trying to!)
