I am entering my ninth year of teaching at Penta Career Center, an incredible Career Tech school in Perrysburg, Ohio. At Penta, I teach High School American History and Psychology. Before teaching at Penta, I also have taught American history survey courses at Michigan State University as a Grad Assistant in the History Department.
HardCORE! I teach with an emphasis on integrating research-based practices into the study of History. After all, this is what historians do! I never just give students answers to memorize; I want my students to engage with the process of thinking historically and finding comprehensive answers to complex historical questions. All of my products demonstrate my intense drive to really get students involved in the practices of real historians.

Graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Toledo in 2010 with a 3.99 GPA in History. Received a full ride PhD scholarship to Michigan State University, where I caught the teaching bug! After one year there of teaching survey level courses, I went back to the University of Toledo, enrolled in an intense one year Master's teaching program and received my Master's in 7-12 Social Studies Education. I have also recently completed my Masters in History and my dissertation "Prohibition's Proving Ground" explored how automotive culture significantly hampered efforts by law enforcement to effectively enforce Prohibition.
I live with my wife Bridget in Monroe, Michigan and have been married now for 6 years. She has been the greatest blessing of my life! We also have a dog Winnie who's a hippie at heart.
