This is my 18th year teaching ELA. I have taught five years in the middle school and twelve at the high school, teaching everything from regular level classes to advanced students. I also taught a year at a local university, teaching to pre-service teachers.
Student-centered approach is the way in which I prefer to teach. While I have a set criteria of material that needs to be covered in a particular grade level, I constantly use formative assessment to set specific goals and areas of growth for each class. In every lesson I teach, I try to have an element of reading, writing, and critical thinking. And I absolutely love creating lessons that are fun and engaging in the process.
