TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching since 1996. When I first started teaching, I taught 6th grade and all subjects. After 13 years in 6th, I moved to 7th and taught Math and American History. That was for 6 years. I now am back to teaching 6th grade. I taught 6th grade Science and Social Studies for 3 years and now I am teaching Math, my FAVORITE subject!! I have always had a fondness for 6th and 7th grade. I have always wanted to be a teacher. When I was little, I used to play "school" all the time. I would make up tests and write on the little chalkboard my parents bought me. I used to get excited when my teachers gave away their old teacher editions. They would become my books when I played "school".

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe that you are born to be a teacher. It is not a job that anyone or everyone can do, despite what people think. It takes a certain person to give a large portion of their time to helping other people's children and shape them into able-bodied young adults. You have to be patient, understanding, kind, yet firm, and creative. You have to be willing to try new things because all children do not learn the same and every class you teach is not the same as the previous one. So teachers need to be able to adapt and most importantly, think on their feet. I find sometimes my best lessons or activities are those that I thought up instantaneously.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Nominated and featured as a top educator in technology in my district.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Instructional Technology.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I love teaching and sharing my ideas! I want to share some of my best ones with you! My belief is that we as teachers need to work together and change the way some people perceive education.
