I've taught drama for grades 5k - 5th and have worked as an Artist in Residence. My undergrad is in psychology and theatre. I've always been drawn to teaching so I went for my MAT in Early Childhood. I've worked in 4k for 4 years, 5K for 10 years and now teaching 2nd.
I firmly believe that students are guests in my classroom. As my guest, each student deserves the best care, respect, encouragement, and training I can provide. I believe the basic curriculum of any classroom should contribute to children’s social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development. It is my desire that my students will be confident in who they are, life-long learners, and strive for excellence in all they do.
I have received a grade level team grant from the Jr. League of Spartanburg. I have also received several DonorsChoose Grants. At our school, I lead a team in writing a Farm to School grant with the SC Dept. of Agriculture. We won the grant and worked last year building our school garden. This year, each grade level will manage their own 4' x 8' raised garden bed. We've planted and harvested squash, eggplant, corn, pumpkins, sweet potatoes as well as several varieties lettuce. What an amazing way for teachers and students to learn and "grow" together!
