"Together we can do so much" - Helen Keller. My Blog |
I have 10 years experience teaching English Language Arts and U.S. History grades 7-8, one year as a K-12 Reading Specialist, and I am currently a Literacy Coach for SPED elementary.
My teaching style is to create engaging, authentic units in which students can gain the skills and experience necessary for high school and career success. We use the TEL-Con writing strategy (Thesis/Topic, Evidence, Link to Thesis, Conclusion), and the writing process (brainstorm, outline, reflect, write, revise, edit, publish) in all that we do. I also modify and create scaffolding and templates so that every student can find a measure of success with each task.
I am a National Board Certified Teacher. I have a Masters degree in Elementary Education and a doctorate in Language and Literacy. I also hold a Reading Teacher license (316), a Reading Specialist license (317), and an ESL license (395).
I have completed a doctorate in Language and Literacy with a focus in online reading comprehension.
I live in Milwaukee, WI.
