I have been a teacher for more than 30 years, and I have loved every one of those years! While most have been spent teaching grade 4, I have also taught kindergarten and grade 2. I also teach science workshops for teachers and hold certification as a principal.
I enjoy the challenge of teaching all kinds of students, from those struggling to meet grade level expectations to gifted students. I am a curious and passionate learner and bring that to my teaching. I love providing rich and applied learning experiences for my students and keep my teaching lively and geared toward the needs and learning styles of my students. I expect a lot of my students and of myself as their teacher. Everyone is smart in my classroom and everyone can!
I am a recipient of The Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching for the state of Maine in 2000. I was a finalist for Maine Teacher of the Year in 2012. I have presented nature education workshops at state and national conferences, including the National Science Teachers Association.
I have a B.A. in Child Study from Tufts University and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern Maine. I am certified as a Maine Master Naturalist.
I live in beautiful coastal Maine with my husband and our Maine Coon Cat.
