I taught at Clarenceville High School in Livonia for 25 years. Over the years I have taught biology, anatomy, forensic science, physics, conceptual physics and chemistry. I have taught grades 9th-12th.
Inquiry learning, cooperative learning and experimentation. I liked to have the students learn by having them figure things out on their own. I did a lot less lecture and a lot more facilitating than I did when I first started teaching. I focused on vocabulary by using word walls, Mix N' Match cards, and by teaching my students medical terminology. I liked to have students make claims and back them with evidence and reasoning so I created quite a few CER activities.
My Forensic science program won 4th place at the Oakland Press Excellence in Education Awards, 2005. Clarenceville High School Teacher of the Year 2008/2009
B.A.- Adrian College. Teacher Certification and Masters Degree - Eastern Michigan University
