I have been teaching English Language Arts for over 20 years. I also have a certificate in Mild to Moderate Special Education and have worked as an Intervention Specialist providing inclusion support. My experience has primarily been with at-risk students and students with disabilities in urban and vocational settings. These last couple of years I have taught Honors 10, which includes college prep, Pre IB students, and Pre AP.
I believe that learning should be fun and engaging! I use formative assessments to see what students know and can do and then scaffold learning so all students are successful. I teach using direct instruction, guided practice, technology, and group collaboration. Many of my lessons incorporate differentiation and multiple intelligences to reach all learners.
