Simply Math and Science

I taught math, science, and religion in grades 4 through 8 for over 20 years in both public and Catholic schools and have tutored math through grade 12.

I prefer a hands-on approach and like to keep the concepts simple without over-complicating the language. A lot of classroom material has either been "found" or created by myself to cover the curriculum because I found the textbooks lacking. Need something specific? I presented at VAST (Virginia Association of Science Teachers) in 2012 and 2013; authored What It Is Like to Present at a VAST PDI that appeared in The Science Educator (Vol. 62, No. 5); developed the Greatest Common Factors lesson that appeared in the Cuisenaire Rods 75th Anniversary commemorative booklet.

I earned my BS in Elementary Education at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and hold a teaching license in Virginia Elementary Education PreK-6 with an endorsement in teaching middle school mathematics.

I have recently "retired" from the classroom and have a lot of time on my hands when I am not subbing, so I look forward to creating labs, activities, and curriculum.
