I am a 2010/2011 Teacher of the Year. I have 18 years of teaching experience, teaching in 1st, 3rd and 4th grades. I have taught many EIP Reading students, EIP Math students, and ESOL students in addition to general classroom students for most of those years.
I believe the workshop model is the best way to teach students to learn. This provides instruction as well as practice in a gradual release model. I believe in using data to determine instruction. I am a strong supporter of teaching in small groups. I believe the small group model provides the best results for success across all content areas, not just in reading. To engage my students, I often use games to reinforce a new skill, or for practice of an older skill. I know how to make learning fun, so that students actually ask for more!
