TEACHING EXPERIENCE

During my many years in Education, I have had the joys of teaching all the elementary grades in French Immersion. In the last few years I have been responsible for our library, as well as teaching Visual Art, Drama and Dance, Music, Social Studies, Science and Physical Education as the school F.I. prep teacher. For 3 years it was my pleasure to teach ESL to children from nursery school age to adults in Japan while I attempted to learn Japanese. During our provincial Modern Language conference, I've presented over the years, workshops concerning: drama, visual arts, the Arts Blitz, Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking, & Culture and technology.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Whatever subject I teach, I love to incorporate some form of art such as using wordles or tagxedo in Title Pages, fun foldables for writing assignments, overhead transparency puppet shows or shadow puppets for drama, murals for drama backdrops, Cootie Catchers or board games in social studies. If you are looking for inspiring ideas in Art check out my pinterest boards by searching ArtsyButtercupM, where you will find a repository of Art styles, boards and artists, as well as, numerous Education Boards filled with colleagues' brilliant ideas to spice up our classes.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I was fortunate to get my undergrad B.A. in Ontario in French and Spanish and to round that off with a year in France studying at the University of Nice's Faculté de Lettres and at the Universidad de Madrid in Spain. I topped that off with my Bachelor of Education at the Faculty of Education at University of Western Ontario.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have many interests in the outdoors which include biking, sailing, canoeing, skiing and camping with my family. At the same time, I love the arts and revel in Pinterest and Cardmaking. Throughout my life I've been blessed by getting to travel through North America, Europe and Asia and by having the chance to experience various cultures.
