I teach in a New York City Public High School. This year is my 13th year teaching English there. I have taught English Literature classes, Writing Skills classes, and Elective classes in grades 9-12.
All of my lessons are structured in a way that teaches students how to think as opposed to what to think. Every lesson includes a model that breaks down a reading or writing skill followed by a practice portion. I believe that the structure of my lessons allows students to feel safe in my class because they always know what to expect and can always identify what I am trying to teach them.
