I have been in the world of early childhood for 15 years. Ten of those years were spent in a silly-face making, dancing on tables (see my blog for more info..it's not at all what it seems.. I promise), and learning through play pre-k classroom. For the past two years I have been slowly, but surely, updating my brain in a wonderfully magical world of daily 5, close reading, and yes, still dancing on tables, kindergarten classroom.
I. Am. Silly. Does that count? Hmmm..Lets see, my teaching style? Montessori-ish..hands-on..ORGANIZED..child centered, but always teacher guided. And cute..it must be cute. Ask my team..they will tell you. I drive them slightly crazy. All in the name of learning with style. Right? Right.
I have presented at the Louisiana State Kindergarten and Pre-K Conference for new teachers and inclusion classrooms. It was appropriately entitled "Everything but the kitchen sink. Welcome to Pre-K Inclusion." I presented at the Louisiana State Tech Conference on how to use the iPad as a way to help streamline writing anecdotal records. The title: "Starbucks for pre-k..Energizing technology in our classrooms." I have also presented at the National Gifted Conference on the topic of elementary quiz bowl. Its slogan: "Eat, Sleep, Buzz."
I received my BA in early childhood education and am currently working on my Masters in the same area. Little people are my heart. They make me smile. They make me think. They love my high heel shoes...bonus! They help me learn even when they don't know it. I Love them.
