My name is Shannon Dolan and I've been an elementary school counselor for over ten years in North Carolina. Prior to working in a school setting, I was employed in a community mental health center as a counselor.
My teaching style is interactive, multi-sensory and engaging. I've enjoyed incorporating technology into small groups and classroom guidance settings.
Writing and implementing a new group program called, "AllerBees" to help reduce food allergy bullying and increase advocacy skills for students with food allergies.
Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Health & Science from Penn State University. Master of Science in Education at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
As a parent of two food allergic children, I know first hand how difficult it is to teach them how to stay safe in a food-centered world. I've created a program called, "AllerBees" and implemented it in our elementary school. It's been a HUGE success and the children are feeling EMPOWERED to TAKE CONTROL of their allergies. The parent support and feedback has been POSITIVE. Food bullying reports have decreased. The overall climate of our school has changed and students are ADVOCATING for themselves!
