TEACHING EXPERIENCE

- 25 years' experience teaching English at secondary school level (Years 9-13, aka grades 8-12) in New Zealand. - Am also ESL Trained. - Specialist classroom teacher, including developing and delivering teacher professional learning. - Education Advisor (in Abu Dhabi) - designed and implemented professional learning programmes and appraisal systems for teachers.

MY TEACHING STYLE

- Catering to individuals within the framework of what we are studying. - Differentiation and scaffolding all the way. - Formative assessment and qualitative data is key. - It's all about keeping things robust for students, but logistically (time and energy) efficient and manageable for teachers! - A firm believer in instilling pride in bookwork and in marking books as an oh-so-simple and old-fashioned but key means to improving literacy at high school. - Fun and creativity in the classroom. Whoop-whoop!
