"Bell Ringer" Exit Slip Ticket for Math Class

I developed this "bell ringer" out of my own need to formatively assess my students. Sometimes gaining meaningful feedback from students during a lesson is difficult, because they don't know what they don't know! This simple form provides the teacher with feedback about a student's perception of his or her own understanding as well as evidence of this understanding through a simple task of your choice (a problem, a writing prompt, whatever suits the lesson objective for the day). Very adaptab

Students take pride in creating a "product" that helps them organize their thinking as well as study. Included in this math pack are interactive paper foldable graphic organizers for: * A brainstorm for operation words (words in problem solvi

Slope-Intercept Form: Introductory Discovery Activity

A great way to introduce students to Slope-Intercept Form! Students begin by graphing four linear functions by hand (all equations are written in slope-intercept form, but this is not noted to the students). Guided questions lead students to discover slope-intercept form by comparing their graphs to the equations/functions... they can visually see the slope and y-intercepts from their graphs... and inevitably they notice that these very values were staring them in the face all along within

This review packet is 8 pages long filled with advanced algebra topics. This would be perfect as a review for your advanced Algebra 1 or Algebra 2 students. It is set up in WE DO/ I DO format which allows the teacher to complete one half as an example and leave the other half as practice. This is just a suggested format you could also have them complete the entire packet themselves. Answer Key Incl

Parent Functions Algebra Greeting Card - Mathematically Yours

While the concept of "parent function" is important in Algebra, I find it's a vocabulary term that often escapes my students. I needed to grab their attention, so I created this "greeting card" to help them see and understand the concept. May your students never have brain freeze when asked: What is the parent function for y = 2x + 4? The closing, "Mathematically Yours," is left for your signature before photocopying the card for your students. Simply sign, copy two-sided, and fold in half
