Latin Ablatives Flow Chart for Identifying Ablative Uses

Created by
Ed DeHoratius
So many ablatives to keep track of! So many overlapping characteristics! If only there were a process! Now there is. Use this flow chart to make concrete the necessary analysis for identifying ablatives. Divided between those with prepositions and those without, the flow chart takes users through a series of questions or clues that identify ablatives. It of course is not comprehensive nor foolproof (nor is it intended to be) but gives users a basic framework and process for working with ablative

So, when I asked them if they knew anything about the founding of Rome, they were confused. I created this family tree to show my students how the

Students remember what they write with their own hand. Use this chart when teaching all 6 Latin infinitives. The chart at the bottom is used for the sequence of tenses used with infinitives in indirect statement. Use this chart to teach, then assess with it as well. I have my students write "INFINITIVES TAKE ACCUSATIVE SUBJECTS" between the two charts. Hopefully this handout will make this tough concept a little easier.

The document is entirely in Latin, so it is perfect to use if you are aiming to keep your Latin class in the target language. It is easy for the students to learn how to use, and requires little pre-teaching in a CI based classroom. It is also very general, so you can use it over a
