Order of Operations Project

This project is a fun way for students to practice their skills with order of operations. Students roll a die to come up with 4 numbers that they then need to use to create expressions resulting in a solution of the numbers 0 - 15. They may use the numbers as exponents, use any operation, and use parentheses as much as they'd like. There is a grading rubric along with instructions provided.

A rubric with questions used for with my grade 9 Math students to show their understanding of operations with rational numbers. I use this as an observation/conversation assessment, whereby the students take me through the steps for solving on the board while orally explaining their thought process. Could be edited for other math problems/grades.
