Slime Science Experiment and Differentiated Sequence Writing Activity

My kiddo's are OBSESSED with slime and are constantly making it- they even trade it and sell it to each other! I decided to tap into this interest as a way to introduce sequencing. I adapted this recipe and you can find a ton of different ones on the internet depending on what ingredients you want to use. This one calls for school glue, contact solution, baking soda, and food coloring. You could also add some glitter glue! I tried to pare down the recipe and procedure to 4 main steps. This made

Ice Cream in a Bag Lab Sheet

Here is a super simple student lab sheet for your little learners to use along with the ice cream in a bag experiment. This lab focuses on changing states of matter. This product is simple enough that it doesn't detract from the joy of the experiment (or take up much time), yet it effectively checks for understanding and helps you make sure they learned something! If you're not familiar with how to make ice cream in a bag, Google can help! (Pro tip: double-bag the cream :)

This is an 8.5 x 11 poster on the proper steps towards clean hands. There are 6 steps to fill in the blank. Print these off in colour and display near the kitchen sinks, in school bathrooms, or anywhere where you would like good hygiene to be followed. I upload this image into my Powerpoint slideshows to demonstrate proper handwashing techniques and also use it for class discussion. You can also just use it as a worksheet for kids to fill in the blank.

Bread Tasting Experiment

The teacher will buy a variety of breads such as banana bread, pumpkin bread, etc. Another way is to have parents donate the items needed. I usually put up a sign up sheet in my Classroom Shutterfly website. Another good idea is Sign Up Genius. The point is to have different types of bread for the students to taste. Then ask which they thin they will like more. Taste and find out, I like to do this in small groups during centers. I have a parent man the center.
