Culture is an Iceberg: Printable Worksheets, Activities
This lesson introduces students to culture (their own and others) by comparing culture to an iceberg. Students will understand that culture is a combination of many different things, but that the most important qualities of culture are the aspects that cannot be seen (much like 90% of an iceberg is underwater).

Stand and Deliver Graphic Organizer
This resource accompanies the film Stand and Deliver. It can be used in any classroom to inspire and motivate students to achieve their academic best. Daily Behavior Log
A weekly student behavior log that is given to students at the start of every week. At the end of each day, the students use this log to keep track of their daily behavior. They fill it out with how they feel they did that day and then the teacher adds how s/he feels that student did.
Categories for monitoring include:
- Entered class appropriately/Got right to work
- Stayed in seat/Asked permission to leave seat
- Followed directions (2 reminders or less)
- Gave best effort to all acti

YOUR Circle of Relationships
Purpose: For students to see the full range of relationships they have and with whom.
Suggestion for how to use: Students brainstorm people who they have relationships with. Students place the people who are the closest to them (mom, dad, grandpa, best friend, etc) in the circle closest to them, then fill in the other circles slowly working their way to the outer most circle where they fill in people they are not close to (acquaintances, student in the class next door, etc.).

Examining Aesop's Fables
This reading activity is a worksheet for the classical literature of Aesop's Fables. Students will read three fables and use a graphic organizer to answer comprehension questions and identify unfamiliar vocabulary. The three fables chosen convey good character lessons of responsibility, teamwork/unity, and honesty. A short history paragraph is included to introduce students to Aesop, the Greek slave, better known as "the greatest storyteller." I am presently using this in my third grade class

Congressional Medal of Honor Characteristics/Values
This is a quick handout to introduce the Congressional Medal of Honor Characteristics or Values which come with the CMOH curriculum. In this chart, students define the CMOH values and also provide examples in order to familiarize themselves with these values and characteristics of heroes. Students then apply these to characters which we read about in class.

Sudent's Personal Daily Schedule
Many students need to know what comes next in their day. This is a great way to personalize their day for them. Write down times and fill in the clock hands for visual guides. This can be shrunk in size to laminate and tape to desks or taped to student folders.

Words are like Toothpaste
Words are like toothpaste is a social skills activity to teach students or children about how words can be hurtful.Activity: I first give students a small tube of toothpaste and ask them to squeeze all the toothpaste out. After they have successfully done this I ask them to put it back in. We debrief using the activity above.

Student IEP at a Glance Worksheet
I made this worksheet for my middle school students that required transitions. When this begins I start teaching my students with IEP's to read them and understand what their services mean. This is a good start to the basic components to their IEP and good way to begin the conversation. It includes discuss about goals, accommodations, and behavioral supports so students understand how their IEP supports their learning then help to make informed decisions in their case conferences.

Tacky The Penguin Unit
The unit includes reading 5 Tacky books that lasts for 2 weeks. In this unit there is an interactive read aloud plan and a shared reading plan. The lessons include prior knowledge, plot, point of view, character traits, compare and contrast of all the books with the chart, higher order questions, theme, writing activities, the shared reading activity and so much more.

Behavior Think Sheet
Editable word document to use with students who need to think about the behavior choices that they have made. They can visually see and choose where they were, what they did and what they could do next time to make better choices. Teaching Self-Control
This is an excellent activity for teaching self-control in students. It is quite useful in classes with several behaviour issues. It's important to teach children to monitor and reflect on their own behaviour. It is also important that students set personal goals to help them achieve healthy self-control of their action, words, desires and emotions.

Tracking Theories Across a Story
As students move reading levels and books become longer, it can be difficult to keep track of character inferences and predictions. Here is a great visual tool to help kids keep track of their character theories as well as push them to revise theories when necessary.
